And replace it with what? The only two basic forms of democracy are representative and direct, and direct democracy has its own problems.

I can’t imagine how a representative democracy would operate otherwise. In representative democracies you’re picking some person to make decisions on your behalf, and that person is different from you so some of their decisions are not going be the ones you would have made if you were in their place.

You may be wanting direct democracy, in which you would personally get to vote on the government’s actions. Your “representative” would be perfect in that case because your representative would be you. But since you would only represent yourself, that’s not what would normally be called “representative democracy.”

This is how representative democracy works, none of the presented options are likely to be “perfect” for any given voter.

Russia has passed laws annexing Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts. They invaded Kharkiv and made a run for Keiv and Odessa. Their politicians rant about how Poland and the Baltics are next. You really think anyone’s going to believe that they did all that to keep some territory that they had already occupied?

They literally just murdered Putin’s most prominent political rival. Just yesterday.

The fighting is to provide ammunition at the negotiating table. Currently, Russia isn’t going to accept any negotiated settlement that requires them to leave Ukrainian territory or return kidnapped Ukranian children, for example. But once Russia’s on the ropes there’s a better chance of them doing that.

My thoughts are that the Tricontinental is published by Cuba, so I’m immediately dubious about any “imperialism”-related accusations they might be slinging.

The first line of the introduction is “It has been a scant 30 years since the ‘end of history’ was declared by bourgeois ideologists in pantomimes of wish-fulfilment for sensing the inviolability of United States imperialism.” That doesn’t do much to assuage my first reaction.

Clearly China is the real victim here.
