For once, I don’t think those contractors will go straight to war crimes. In Iraq and Afghanistan their main orders were to provide security. Unfortunately that meant that they couldn’t scratch their itchy trigger fingers. This time around, thanks to Russia flooding the lines with meat, they’ll have a target rich environment in which to play with their toys. They’ll be too busy playing John Wick against poorly trained ex-cons and conscripts to accidentally kill any women and children.

As one example of how the US has opted to not divest from progress. The same applies to American infrastructure. The US was very aggressive for many years, then stopped. Stopped investing in science, space, infrastructure, etc. and chose to rely almost entirely on the private sector. In return, we have wasted at least a thirty year lead.

I’m a simple man. If a game is DRM free, I buy (looking at GOG). If a game is indie, I buy. If a game is an anti-cheat infested AAA “blockbuster”, I go sailing.

With MMO-like games and “live service” I understand that the value is in the “now” and that the game is worthless in the future. I loved Destiny once upon a time, but now I avoid all of them.

I’d start with a 13 month/28 day calendar and planetary time (all clocks set to UTC).
