What I’m implying is if Cuba wants normalization it knows how to get it. The way to get it is not through the UN. Has Cuba the one dragging feet? IDK, when was the last time they had a free and fair election?
Actually, Obama started them on their way to normalization. Then Trump reapplied sanctions. So it wasn’t a straight 60 years. They want to get on the path that they agreed to again, I’m sure SecState would be receptive. And that is the way it’s done.
Trump resumed trade prohibitions. After that I don’t know. But that is the way to change relationships. Last I heard, Cuba actually arrested some Russians for recruiting Cubans for the Ukraine War. Which was, I should think, a good sign. But, Cubans know the way to Blinken’s office.

I would bet the Russians know 100% of that 99%

US law does not apply at Gitmo. I’ve said that many times.
US law aligns with International law.
Two different concepts.
I didn’t say it was okay. But I do understand it. We call them unlawful combatants. That is a specific term akin to pirate. You can, by law, do anything you want to a pirate on the high seas. They have no rights. That’s old British law and international law. So, by calling them that we imprisoned them in a place not in this country so they would have no rights. US laws do not apply. Screwed up? SURE.
That’s why it’s gitmo. It’s not under US law. If it was those prisoners would have other kinds of rights that we don’t want them to have.
Last US War crime I can remember was Clint Lorance who k I liked some Afgan villagers. He was serving a 19 year sentance, and was pardoned by Trump.
Our laws align with international law.
The US has their own justice system. War crimes are taken to US courts, offenders prosecuted and jailed. What the US doesn’t do is wait for international courts to act.
This is what happens when you’re wanted for war crimes. The reason the US, Russia, India and China are not members is the the possibility of needing to hand over citizens to the Hague.
Dude said rogue nation. How rogue do you want to get
