Lmfao that definitely sounds like a fart. Good catch.

To be fair, you can get injured by being pulled up violently while wearing your seatbelt, or you and your seatmate knocking heads while strapped down, so there’s still a slight chance. That or it was unpredictable turbulence maybe? So a lot of people were moving around the cabin.
Same, but I also eat regular ice cream and frozen custard :(
I actually know someone like this. He’s been in software engineering since the early 2000. I recently saw a post from him that he’s now a firefighter recruit.
Agree with all your points. If I had a penny for every time lift-and-shift is mentioned when migrating to cloud from on-prem…
There was one time I was traveling and had to reset one of my passwords. It sent a verification code via email but my email provider wouldn’t let me login because I was in a different country I’ve never been to before. So it was a train of recovery processes to reser my password on a single account.
Ah shit here we go again.
To be fair, we sometimes have to look through multiple related documentation and tickets to make sure the change was actually reviewed and approved by the necessary teams (network, security, etc.). We also have an SLA for PR reviews/approvals and some people have a habit of sending it out for approval at the last minute of the change window.
TIL anti-static wristbands are a thing. I need get me one of those.
The most common thing I see is people confusing usb-c with thunderbolt, and using the former on docks and expecting it to provide power and transmit data.
Something tells me he won’t think of them at all.
Do you happen to know if there’s a summary of the people in the documents? Like literally just a list of names?
The way the authorities went ham on “investigating” his case and leaking stuff to the media means someone powerful is trying to cover up something from public scrutiny and diverting public attention.
Thank you for this. It was getting tiring seeing out-of-context and opinionated stuff getting posted on a world news community, where there is a reasonable expectation that posts should be actual news of current events from news sources.
I’m sorry you are still not getting it. It DOES NOT matter if it’s a white supremacist or whoever says something. What matters is you properly reference when a quote was said in a WORLD NEWS COMMUNITY. Holy crap how can you be so dense?? I will ask for context on any quote, no matter who said it. No matter how many examples you throw, the answer is the same. Posting a quote in a NEWS community should be properly dated if it was said at a different time. Please see the posting rules on the sidebar and see if you posted this according to the rules.
Ok I’m sorry but we are arguing about 2 different things here and I don’t think this is going anywhere with how you’re digging your heels further in. You are arguing about a conflict of which I am in agreement with you and on your side. I am straight up with Palestine in this conflict, and obviously lives matter more than what Biden says.
What I am arguing for is how to properly post a quote in a community for World News and current events. People who are subscribed to this community expect to see news about the current conflict and what the entities involved in it are currently saying. Just because someone involved in this conflict said something relevant 37 years back, it doesn’t mean you can just present it as if they said it today. Post it this way in a c/politics discussion and no one will bat an eye. But this community is for current news.
I will stop arguing now as this conversation is going nowhere with you. This is not a me vs you thing, you are arguing against someone on your side and throwing accusations (" typical settler") without even understanding that the person is on your side. It’s about posting things properly with respect to the community you’re posting it in. I feel like you think you are being attacked and are lashing out. I am not attacking you or your views, I’m just telling you how to properly post in a news community. As Edric said in in Dune 1984, “I was not here” (see that reference? I actually dated which Dune film a character said something). Bye.
The fact that Biden wouldn’t say the quiet part out loud today, just shows the opportunism of the democratic party.
Exactly, that’s why it’s important to point out he didn’t say that today. His stance is bad even 37 years ago, but it doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t say it today.
Re: Obama and drones - I think you’re digging too deep into this. The same thing applies. If Obama said something (you didn’t point out an exact quote) before he started bombing, I would still say that context should be provided on when he said it if you posted it today in relation to current events in the middle east and north Africa.
What does political affiliation have anything to do with this? This is c/worldnews, where there is reasonable expectation that what is posted is current events. I have repeatedly said I am not disagreeing with you, and that I’m only saying pulling a quote from 37 years ago needs to be put into context, regardless if it is relevant or not.
Context matters in this case not because his stance has changed or not, but because current events have changed. The post comes off as if Biden said it today. I doubt he would’ve said that out loud in 1986 if Israel was doing what it’s doing now back then, just as he won’t be saying that today with what’s happening. If the post said “Biden on Israel in 1986” or something similar, then it gives a frame of reference to the reader on the context that he didn’t say that while Israel was actively mounting a full scale invasion of Palestine, especially here where it’s posted in c/worldnews. I wouldn’t mind if this was posted in c/politics or something.
Again, I am not disagreeing with you that what he said was deplorable.
It is worth noting that the ones who chose to return had the unfortunate circumstance of not having transferable skills and ended up working low paying jobs compared to what they had at home. Most of the people who had transferable skills have good paying jobs and are living comfortably. Most of the people surveyed also said they did not wish to return. I’m guessing someone who chose to move did not like their present circumstances in the first place so it’s not surprising that the majority want to stay.
