Human Shield is a fun little linguistic trick that turns innocent human beings with lives and internality similar to your own into prop objects wielded by an inhuman enemy. This makes it way easier to justify mowing them down in service of your geopolitical goals. Every time that phrase is used it is a sign that someone is probably trying to justify something inhumane; usually something that would be considered a war crime if done against the ones using it.

The lack of aid getting into Gaza is not due to a logistical problem, you can’t solve it through haphazardly slapped together shipping infrastructure. Yeah, you can sometimes redress grievances through collective action, but don’t ever expect these people to be held accountable without that. That’s not what the “justice” system is for.

If the people who sacrifice others for their own gain are ever held to account then they will simply dismantle the law and remove any pretense of equality.

I’m not even convinced that’s true when it comes to this issue. Trump, at least, narcissistically cares about what people think of him enough that he could maybe be swayed by public opinion. Biden has been a hardline Zionist his entire career and sees backing Israel to the hilt despite the public outcry as a moral imperative.

Seems like the accusation of antisemitism stems from a claim she made that there is a strong Jewish lobby in America, and from mocking Macrons statement that Oct 7 was the greatest antisemitic incident “this century”, a century shared with WW2. I suppose one could argue he meant the century starting from 2000 but it feels odd to evoke a hundred year period when you’re referring to less than a quarter of that.

I think what he’s trying to say is that Israel succeeding would mean all of the Palestinians are dead, making the number of deaths equal or close to the population who remained.

I feel its also important to note that they target more than just the journalists themselves, they also target their families. It’s really is staggering how deep the depravity goes.

The people in Arab countries are generally anti imperialism but the leadership can often to be beholden to America through (usually oil based) financial ties. Egypt’s government, for example (because it’s freshest in mind), has repeatedly tried to crack down on pro Palestine protests likely at the behest US handlers. They’re obviously not quite as heavily controlled as Israel, though one could argue that Israel has slipped the leash a bit lately, and Israel’s destruction would be a huge blow, but I don’t feel it would be the killing stroke you and I would like it to be.

The US has its fingers in more pies than just Israel. Egypt just got a huge multibillion dollar loan from the IMF thanks to America throwing their support behind them (likely in exchange for building that nifty concentration camp in Sinai).
